IT students visit Sohar Aluminium
Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (IT) students, currently studying Fundamentals of Computer Security course, visited Sohar Aluminium, Suhar Industrial Estate, Suhar, on December 3, 2018.
The visit aimed to provide students real time exposure on computer and internet security policies and mechanisms observed and followed by industries.
Also, the visit was intended to increase students’ awareness on various technologies and/or tools used by the industries.
Further, it was meant as avenue for students to interact and intermingle with industry experts who can enlighten their doubts on industry practices and can enrich their academic knowledge.
IT Infrastructure Supervisor Mr. Tariq Al-Zadjali welcomed the group.
Network Engineer Pradeep explained the basic networking system followed by industries. He facilitated a discussion also on various malwares and cyber attacks, and various methods and approaches to prevent and troubleshoot these attacks. He included in his discussion about tips on how to secure your own personal computer and devices, firewall, CISCO Umbrella concepts, to name a few.
Networking lecturers Dr. Venkadeshan Ramalingam and Mr. Thanigaivel Ganesan accompanied the students.
This industry visit was arranged by the Industrial Visit Committee of the IT Department in coordination with the On-the-Job Training (OJT) Department.
