IT Department offers Wireless Network training
The Information Technology (IT) Department, in coordination with the Community Engagement Committee, offered a 16 hour training on “Basic Concepts on Wireless Technology” to 22 government employees at Room A-140, Main Building, April 15-25, 2019.
The training aimed at teaching the participants how to create a secure wireless network in their workplaces and homes and protect their network from intruders.
IT lecturer Mr. Rajesh Rajamoni Kala trained the participants in a simulation environment using Cisco packet tracer.
After that, they were allowed to work in a real environment using wireless router, wireless access point, wireless LAN controller, Cisco wired router, and Cisco switches.
Advanced wireless networking features like filtering unauthorized users of wireless network using MAC Address filtering, policy based filtering, and Internet of Things (IoT) were also discussed during the event.
IT Head of Section Ms. Amna Al-Kaabi awarded the participants with certificates on the last day of training.
