The Information Technology (IT) Department conducted series of induction-orientation programs to new Diploma I students were held last October 9-10, 2018, at Room A-041, Shinas College of Technology (ShCT) Main Building.

IT Lecturer Mr. Prashanth Kumar Bolisetty provided the overview and profile of the Department and the different specializations being offered. He also facilitated the open forum and discussion.

Ms. Bushra Al-Mamari, from Counselling and Graduates Follow-up, explained the academic system, related policies and procedures, and other academic matters that serve to guide the new students in obtaining the desired Cumulative General Point Average (CGPA) and avoid entering probation status. 

Ms. Nadia Swaidan AL-Saidi, also from Counselling and Graduates Follow-up, discussed about probation considering student’s CGPA, how to avoid and move out from it, learning styles and study habits, and related matters and also discuss about the behavior of the students.

ETC Technician Mr. Humaid Al-Mamari mentioned to the students the student’s services offered by ETC such as student portal, e-learning, college e-mail, wi-fi services, etc.

Said program aimed to induct and inform the new diploma I students about the academic system, policies and procedures, specializations offered, available student services and support, counselling services, and extra and co-curricular activities, among others.

For the past years, this classroom venue based induction program has been found effective in ensuring high percentage attendance among students.
