The University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas proudly announced the triumph of its student team in the recent Sohar International Fintech Hackathon held on 7th December 2023. The collaborative effort between the Business Administration and IT Departments resulted in the team securing the third prize for their innovative project, "Inclusive Shopping: Low-Cost Assistive Smart Chairs for Differently Abled Individuals." 

Comprising Shamsa Salim Mattar Al Badi, Asma Abdallah Nasser Al-Risi, Shima Hamdan Said Al Maamari, Almarwah Mahfoodh Khamis Al-Shamsi, and Rima Khamis Rashid Al Shibli, the team's project featured low-cost assistive smart chairs with voice and vision control, coupled with integrated financial features, facilitating an independent shopping experience for differently-abled individuals. 

UTAS Shinas extended heartfelt congratulations to the team and acknowledged the pivotal role played by mentors Dr. S. Priya and Dr. Saleem Raja from the Business Administration and IT Departments, respectively. This success underscores the dynamic collaboration between UTAS Shinas' business and IT departments.
