UTAS Shinas Explores Nanotechnology Innovations in Wastewater Contaminant Removal Through Seminar Session
The Research and Consultancy Committee of the Engineering Department at UTAS Shinas orchestrated a captivating seminar on "Nanotechnology Advancements in Emerging Contaminants Removal from Wastewater" on Thursday, 2nd November 2023. Held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, the seminar featured Dr. Mohammed Al-Abri, an Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University, as the esteemed resource person. The seminar drew an enthusiastic participation of over fifty staff members keen on delving into the cutting-edge developments in nanotechnology and its applications in wastewater treatment. The distinguished guest, Dr. Mohammed Al-Abri, provided a comprehensive overview of the significance and multifaceted role of nanotechnology in various domains, both current and future. The crux of his presentation revolved around the application of nanotechnology in the removal of contaminants from seawater and industrial wastewater on a commercial scale. The seminar also delved into the intricate details of water purification processes specific to the Sultanate of Oman. The event culminated with expressions of gratitude and recognition. UTAS Shinas Assistant Vice Chancellor, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Balushi, and the Head of the Engineering Department, Mr. Hud Khalifa Hamed Al-Saadi, presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Mohammed Al-Abri, acknowledging his invaluable contribution to the seminar.
