Mechanical Engineering Diploma Students visit Arabian Industries
The Mechanical Engineering section of the Engineering Department, with the support of Industrial Link Committee & OJT Department, started the semester industrial visits for Semester 3, 2015 with an industrial visit of Diploma level students to Arabian Industries. Sixteen students and two staff members visited Arabian Industries on May 14, 2015. The group left college on the college bus at 8:30 AM and reached Arabian Industries at 9:00 AM sharp.
At the site, Mr. Sijin, H. S. E. an advisor, welcomed the group to Arabian Industries and gave an orientation lecture on health and safety rules and regulations to be followed while inside the company. After the HSE orientation Mr. Saif Humaid led the group on a tour of all the facilities and activities in the company. He elaborated on the products and the manufacturing processes used to fabricate the products. The group visited different fabrication shops and had the opportunity to learn about heavy pressure vessel manufacturing, the CNC gas cutting process, the CNC rolling process, MIG welding, TIG welding, Jig drilling, overhead cranes, among other things. Finally, students had the opportunity to see the coating and painting process in action.
By the end of the visit, students gained valuable first-hand practical experience of the advanced manufacturing processes, which until now they could only study from books. At the end of the tour the staff thanked the company for their ever-present support and association with the college.
