The Mechanical section of the Engineering Department of Shinas College of Engineering,in coordination with the OJT Department,organized a one-day industrial visit to the Madha power plant, on 19^thMarch 2015 for B.Tech. students. Dr. Mohammed Al-Washahi, lecturer/Mechanical section and of the Engineering department,accompanied students for this industrial visit. Twenty one students of the engineering section attended the visit.

The purpose of the visit was to gain practical knowledge for the students about the diesel power plant available in Madha. The site engineer explained to the students, the process from unloading the diesel to the tank until the burning in the diesel generator. Students were able to be close to and observe the parts of a retired diesel generator. Moreover, students became familiarized with switchgear components like the breakers, switches, bus-bars, transformer, battery bank and many other related equipment.

The visit was really helpful to enhance the understanding of the students about the technology and working of a diesel operated power plant.
