Engineering students visit Voltamp Transformers, LLC
The Engineering Department, in association with the OJT department of the college arranged a student visit to VOLTAMP LLC, Sohar on 12, November, 2015.
Twenty-four students studying the High Voltage Engineering course in the B. Tech Electrical Power Engineering visited the company, along with course lecturer Mr. Mahesh Aphale.
Mr. Abdulaziz, Mr. Fahad, and Mr. Waleed received the visitors. Mr. Shailesh and Ms. Badoor of the Design Department of the company gave a detailed presentation about the assembly and accessories of a power transformer. Mr. Rajesh Sakharkar and Mr. Umesh Salunkhe guided the students entour on the shop floor.
It was the first opportunity for the students to see the manufacturing process of power transformers. The students observed the preparation of laminations, insulators, windings, assembly, tanking and other processes involved in the manufacturing of a power transformer. An interesting part of the visit was the High Voltage Testing Laboratory facility which is one of its kind, in the Middle-East region. Mr. Shastry, explained the test setup and procedures in detail to the visitors.
Despite a tight schedule and an ongoing visit by their customers, the company management facilitated the visit, which lasted for more than three hours.
The students and the engineering department take this opportunity to thank the management of the company for extending their usual cooperation and granting permission for the visit.
