Electrical engineering students visit OETC’s load dispatch center
Eleven Electrical Engineering students participated in an industrial visit to Oman Electricity Transmission Company‘s (OETC) Load Dispatch Centre, Muweilah, Muscat on Nov. 11, 2015.
Mr. Arun and Mr. Shravan, lecturers in the engineering department accompanied the students. The latter are currently enrolled in Power System Operation & Reliability.
Mr. Sultan Al Rawahi, Operational Planning Manager of OETC’s Load Dispatch Center, along with two operation engineers, welcomed the group. They presented the operations of OETC and its Load Dispatch Centre.
The students learned about OETC’s contribution to the power sector of the Sultanate, especially the concepts of economic load dispatch, unit commitment and automatic generation control.
OETC experts also conveyed to the students the importance of power system planning and system security, along with their experiences in the company.
The Engineering Department in coordination with the On-the-Job Training Department of the college, organized the OETC educational tour.
