In association with the OJT department of the college, Engineering Department arranged a students’ visit to VOLTAMP LLC, Sohar on 19/March/2015.

Nineteen students of the Bachelor of Technology level of Electrical Power Engineering, studying a course on High Voltage Engineering, visited the company alongwithMr. Mahesh Aphale and Mr. Karimulla Syed, lecturers in Electrical Power Engineering.

Mr. Yousuf Al Shafai, HR and Admin Head of the company, welcomed the visitors and presented a brief profile of the company. Mr. Yousuf, Mr. Fahad, Mr. Ibrahim and Mr. Yahya guided the studentson a tour of the shopfloor.

It was the maiden opportunity for students to see the manufacturing process of power transformers and the students responded enthusiastically. The students observed the preparation of insulators, windings, laminations, assembly, tanking and other processes involved in the manufacturing a power transformers.The most interesting part of the visit was the High Voltage Testing laboratory,which is one of a kind in the Middle-East. Mr. Shastryexplained the test setup and the procedures in minute detail to the visitors.

Despite a tight schedule and ongoing jobsensitivity, the company management facilitated the visit, which lasted for more than three hours.

The students and the Engineering Department take this opportunity to thank the management of the company for extending their usual cooperation and granting us permission for the visit.
