Shinas College of Technology (ShCT), through the initiative of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit of the College, with the cooperation of Ministry of Innovation Unit of HCT visit team conducted a one-day ‘Entrepreneurial Innovation Workshop’ on November 5, 2018, at Multi-Purpose Hall, Engineering Building.

Dr. Manal Al Khanbashi, Ammar Al Kharousi, Abdulrahman Al Balusi, and Ms. Tgreed Al Fazari served as the resource speakers.

The main objective of the workshop was to enrich the entrepreneurial culture and awareness among the students. International trends in entrepreneurship in developing the country’s economy was also given emphasis in order to prepare the students for such change, and accept the challenges involved in the entrepreneurship field.

The workshop involved students who were engaged into doing different types of activities, and explored various entrepreneurial tools. The students were divided into 9 teams; each team focuses on producing one creative idea (can be product/service). This idea should be commercialized, profitable, and has social benefits.

The program was a great opportunity for the students to gain experience especially for those who are willing to start their entrepreneurial journey, and to promote entrepreneurship as a career opportunity in Oman.

The participants were composed of 31 students from the College, and 7 students from Shinas Vocational College (SVC).
