The IT Department Community Engagement Committee of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas, Oman, conducted a workshop for the community titled "Introduction to Database and SQL Basics for Beginners" on 11th and 12th December 2023.The workshop aimed to provide a basic understanding of database concepts and structured query language (SQL). The participants were given hands-on exercises on creating database, and manipulating these data using basic SQL commands. The basic transactions of adding new records, searching, removing and updating specific record from a database table was also discussed. Participants learned how to create a simple file management system.A total of 15 participants attended the workshop which was facilitated and conducted by the two resource speakers, Mr. Abdul Khadar Vaddatti and Mr. Mir Abid Ali, lecturers from IT Department. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the participants.
