ORPIC Industry visit by engineering students
The Industrial Link committee organized an industry visit to ORPIC on 17th September 2015, which was attended by electrical and mechanical engineering B.Tech students of Shinas College of Technology.
In total, 33 students and 2 staff members visited ORPIC.
Mr. Said Al-Mamari, Health Safety and Environment advisor, welcomed the group to ORPIC and gave an orientation lecture on the industry profile, the formation of petrol, extraction, refining, health and safety rules and the products and byproducts obtained from ORPIC. After the HSE orientation, Mr.Yousif Al Balushi, mechanical Engineer, led the group to the presentation hall for a technical presentation and discussions.
The group visited different units and had the opportunity to learn about heavy pressure vessel manufacturing, erecting high capacity tanks, blast boiler, and piping for long distance and heavy duty cranes etc.
This visit gave students a good insight into advanced manufacturing processes, which are used for erecting huge structures.
