The Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Technology at UTAS Shinas has extended its services and collaboration with the industrial sector by offering a one-week training program titled "Creative AutoCAD Skills." This program, which ran from 1^st October to 5^th October 2023, catered to participants from Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel Company.The program's inauguration was conducted by Mr. Fahad Saif Mohammed Al-Maqbali, Head of the Mechanical section. Twenty-two participants from various departments of Jindal Shadeed Steel plants attended this training initiative. The initial session was led by Dr. Harish Rudraiah, a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. During this session, the significance of AutoCAD, as well as the basics of AutoCAD software, including simple line diagrams, drawing tools, properties, construction of circles, and annotation, were explored. Simple drawings were created to illustrate the practical use of AutoCAD. On the second day, Mr. K. Manikandan took charge of the session, where he explained various commands, such as arcs and polygons, hatching, modification tools, annotation, and tolerance. Day three was led by Ms. Muna Salim Al Issaei, during which she covered topics like layers and layouts, viewports, blocks, and plotting. She used building construction drawings as examples to explain these concepts. Days four and five saw Mr. G. Raja and Dr. Harish leading the sessions. These sessions delved into the basics of 3D modeling, surface modeling, image rendering, and animation. Participants were actively engaged and practiced these concepts with various drawings.Throughout the program, participants were provided with clear explanations of various drawings, each with different dimensions. They displayed enthusiasm and interacted actively with the trainers. The program concluded on a high note, with participation certificates awarded to all attendees. The certificates were presented by Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Mohammed Al Balushi, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTAS Shinas, Dr. Darwish Abdullah Al Kalbani, Chairman of the Industry Engagement Committee at UTAS Shinas, Eng. Naif Abdullah Al Balushi, Assistant Manager at Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel, and Mr. Hud Khalifa Hamed Al Saadi, Head of the Engineering Department.
