Oman Representatives win 3rd Place in China’s ICT Talent Cultivation Summit-Middle East 2017
Oman representatives, which consist of three students from Shinas College of Technology (ShCT), two from Higher College of Technology (HCT) and one from Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), won 3rd place in the International Final Round, Huawei ICT Talent Cultivation Summit-Middle East held in Shenzhen, China on December 24, 2017.
ShCT students included in the team were Aysha Khamis Al-Hosnia, Afraa Saif Khalfan Al Kaabi, and Marwan Abdullah Ali Al Saifi.
The competition was composed of 80% hands-on and 20% interview. It was conducted in three categories: Preliminary, National Final and International Final. Eighty (80) students from different colleges in the Sultanate have joined the preliminary competition which was conducted online on October 24, 2017. Out of 80 students, top six individual students were taken to qualify for the ICT Skill Competition-Middle East International final round in China.
Representatives from other Middle East countries like, UAE, KSA, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Pakistan, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq also joined the competition.
Huawei launched the said competition aimed at university students to be more equipped in driving digital transformation in the region.
