IT Department holds IT Day 2015

Together with its student organization, IT Club, the IT Department organized the IT Day 2015 last Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the college lobby, and laboratory rooms. This annual event aimed to showcase and demonstrate the knowledge, and skills of the IT students in various areas. In the said event, various activities were organized, namely: IT Best Projects’ Exhibit, Google IT, Fix IT for free, Math Fun, Great IT Innovations, Know your specialization, to name a few. Seminar-workshops on Arduino Projects and Computer Graphics were conducted. Mr. Mahmood Ahmed Said Al-Ismaili and Mr. Mohammed Rashid Mohammed Al-Ruhaili, both from the Engineering Village, facilitated the workshop on Arduino Projects while Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Ajmi from Thurayabiz served as the resource speaker on computer graphics.

Dr. Ali Al-Mughari, College Dean, and the other members of the College Council, Ms. Asyha Al-Jabri, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Mr. Ali Mahmood Al-Balushi, Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance, Dr. Mohammed Al-Wishahi, HoD of Engineering, and Dr. Mary Jane Aragon, HoD of IT, officially opened the activity. They visited the various booths and gave inquiries about the various projects, products, and services exhibited. Selected students presented the projects, specializations of the department, and others to the visitors. Also, some Arduino projects and kits by Oman Engineering Village were displayed.

In the closing program held at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Ms. Aysha Matter Al-Jabri, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, congratulated the IT Department for organizing the event. Together with Dr. Mary Jane Aragon, HoD of IT, and Ms. Asma, Abdullah Al-Senani, IT Club President, she handed over the certificates and tokens of appreciation to the resource speakers, participants, and organizers of IT Day 2015. Also, winners of the academic competitions such as Quiz Bee, PC Assembly, Web Design, and Mobile Programming, were awarded gifts and certificates. Mr. Edgardo Dalan Jr. served as the master of ceremony.

This IT Day 2015 was a successful event due to the utmost efforts given by the Department Council, IT Club headed by Ms. Asma Abdullah Al-Senani and supervised by Ms. Amna Al-Kaabi and Ms. Annette Daligcon, Educational Technology Centre (ETC), students and staff.
