Huawei Technical Investments Company signs MoC with ShCT
Huawei Technical Investments Company, in partnership with Shinas College of Technology (ShCT), signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on June 29, 2020 to establish Huawei Technology Academy for Information and Communications to sponsor local Omani talents under the supervision of the company and its management.
The launch of this academy will assist the College in its efforts to transform to new technologies including artificial intelligence and 5G. The agreement aims to support ShCT’s technological development efforts for the community and develop students’ skills in the fields of emerging technologies. It also aims to nurture the talents of the students and to inspire innovation as well as the desire to participate in international competitions.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Mamari, Dean of Shinas College of Technology, and Mr. Robin Chen, CEO of Huawei, through a video call.
Based on the agreement program, Huawei will provide accredited and specialized training programs for the college staff and students. Huawei will also provide accreditation courses and qualifications needed for academics and technicians using simulation programs applied in Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) to become Huawei Certified Academy (HCAI) trainers. Thus, the College will provide specialized courses in Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy (HAINA) for college graduates and interested community members.
Mr. Robin Chen said, “The cooperation agreement with a leading educational institution such as Shinas College of Technology is one of the steps we take to nurture local talents and support future leaders by working with government agencies and educational institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. We are keen to develop the System Ecological Information and Communication Technology in the Sultanate to provide the Omani youth with the necessary skills in this field and to support the goals of the national plans and strategies that seek to build a sustainable digital knowledge-based economy.”
“The Huawei Academy for Information and Communication Technology and Accredited Networks will seek to foster innovation in the local talent in the field of technology because of its importance to enable the information and communications technology sector in the Sultanate and to overcome the current challenges and meet the future requirements of different sectors," he added.
ShCT is proud of having represented the Sultanate in the Huawei Middle East Competitions in China three years in a row after its students achieved two of six leading positions.
