University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas holds an Online Induction Week for New Students

University of Technology and Applied Sciences-Shinas held an online induction week for its new students (Spring Semester, January 2022) for the academic year 2021/2022. The induction started on January 20, 2022, and the first day program began with a welcoming speech delivered by the University Dean, Dr. Ahmed Al-mamari, emphasizing the importance of studying and preparing well for university life. Next, another talk was given by the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, Mr. Ali Al-Alawi, who gave some important advice to the students during their university stage. Then, Mr. Saif Al Weshahi, the Head of the English Language Center, welcomed students to the Center and the University. Afterwards, Ms. Safiya Al-Makhmari, an English Lecturer at the English Language Centre, presented a lecture entitled (Your Journey in the English Language and the Foundation Year Program), after which Mr. Abdullah Al Balushi from the English Language Center gave a presentation on the Distance Learning and How to Use the E-learning System. Then, Dr. Hani Al Balushi from the English Language Center gave a talk entitled “Learning English in the Foundation Program: Challenges and Solutions”. Afterwards, Ms. Ibtisam Al-maqbaliya from the Center for Educational Technologies talked about “E-Services and Placement Test Guidelines”. On the second day, January 23, 2022, the English Placement Test was held in campus. After completing the test, the students went on an introductory tour of the university’s facilities, organized by student groups and the Student Advisory Council. Next, Mr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, Head of the Counseling and Graduate Follow-Up Department, spoke about the services offered by the Department to students and the importance of psychological stability in university life, and gave general advice to them to succeed in life and education. Then, a talk about the roles and services of the Student Advisory Council was given by the student, Hussein Al- Balushi, followed by a lecture on the activities and importance of student groups presented by the student, Abeer Al Shehhi. After that, Mr. Mohammad Al-Qamsawi, Head of the Finance Department, informed the students of student allowances and procedures of opening their bank accounts. Also, Mr. Khamis Al-Masoudi spoke about some of the services provided by the Admission and Registration Department. on January 25, 2022, Mathematics and IT Placement Tests were held in campus. The induction program was concluded with an open dialogue and answering the inquiries of new students.
