The Staff Professional Development Team (SPDT) of the English Language Center (ELC) spearheaded a workshop on February 27, 2020 at the Theater, Engineering Building.

Dubbed “Teamwork and Emotional Intelligence,” the workshop aimed at highlighting the significance of teamwork and emotional intelligence to achieve an organization’s goals.

Sohar Aluminum Lead Professional Development Mr. Badar Al Jahwari served as the resource speaker. He discussed the good characteristics of an ideal team player and the various ways to improve self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management.

Using the emotional intelligence self-assessment tool, the participants were able to assess the four components of their emotional intelligence, which are vital in promoting effective communication among colleagues in the workplace.

Shinas College of Technology Dean Dr. Ahmed Al Mamari, Assistant Dean for Financial Affairs Mr. Ali Al Alawi, Engineering Department (ED) Head Dr. Ahmed Al Balushi, Educational Technology Center (ETC) Head Mr. Ahmed Al Saidi, Human Resources (HR) Head Ms. Fawziya Al Jabri, ELC lecturers, and several ShCT staff and students attended the said event.

Mr. Al Jahwari was awarded with a certificate of appreciation at the end of the workshop.
