ELC holds ELT seminar
The English Language Center (ELC) held a seminar on “Contemporary Issues in English Language Teaching (ELT): The Case of Oman” at the Multi-Purpose Hall, on May 2, 2019.
Dr. Ali Al Issa, Associate Professor at Sultan Qaboos University’s English Language Education Department delivered a workshop dubbed “Reflective Teaching: A lifelong Professional Development Strategy” and a talk on “Professionalizing ELT Oman: Reflections from Teachers’ Journals.”
During the workshop, the resource speaker explained the key areas of reflective teaching and critical reflective practices.
After that, he shared the critical reflections of the journals written by the student teachers at SQU.
The event was attended by ELC lecturers, and was participated by a number of teachers from Masoud Bin Ramadan School, Ibn Al-Atheer School, Saad Bin Abi Waqqas School, Al Nahdha School, Hafidh Bin Saif School, Al Rabea Bin Habib School, Sohar University, Buraimi University, International Maritime College, Sohar College of Applied Sciences and Shinas Vocational College.
ELC Head Mr. Ali Al Balushi expressed his utmost gratitude to Dr. Ali for always gracing ELC’s invitations. He was awarded with a certificate and token of appreciation by the HoC.
The workshop was organized by ELC’s Staff Support Development Team, with the support of the Industry and Community Engagement Committee.
The successful seminar ended with lunch sponsored by the Village Hypermarket, which is located at Shinas Mall.
