ELC faculty presenters at Oman 17th International ELT Conference
Five lecturers from ShCT’s English Language Center (ELC) participated actively as presenters during the Oman 17th International ELT (English Language Teaching) Conference held at Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat, Oman on April 20-21, 2017.
Level 2 Coordinator Ms. Maryam Ali Masoud Al Aufi and Ms. Amal Said Khamis Al Jahwari facilitated a workshop dubbed “Innovative Vocabulary Games in Minutes: A Gate to Explore!”
Ms. Maryam and Ms. Amal demonstrated innovative and simple games as well as smartphone apps modified for teaching vocabulary effectively in an EFL setting.
Dr. Joseph Dayag presented a scholarly paper titled “Empowering EFL Learners through Asset-based Assessment,” which elucidated varied assessment techniques and strategies that can boost the confidence of EFL learners and empower them to learn EFL with a positive disposition.
Mr. Ossama El-Sayyad facilitated a workshop titled “Mega Memory: How to Teach Vocabulary, so Students Remember.”
During the workshop, Mr. Ossama demonstrated a few memory strategies that students can use to memorize and recall English words effectively.
Moreover, Mr. Waleed Mandour presented a poster titled “Integrating ELL’s 21st Century Skills using Google Forms.”
Mr. Waleed’s poster presentation posited that Google Forms may be used to ignite students’ curiosity, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity (5Cs).
Meanwhile, Dr. Kalyana Thirunagari and Ms. Safiya Al Ajmi attended the international ELT event as participants.
