ShCT’s ELC educators participated in a seminar workshop on vocabulary enrichment at F-23, ELC Building, Shinas College of Technology on June 20, 2019.

Dr. Joseph Decena Dayag, ELC lecturer, conducted the seminar workshop dubbed “Enriching EFL Learners’ Active Vocabulary.”

Dr. Dayag presented a number of research-based principles and tips to be considered in enriching the students’ reservoir of active vocabulary. He also discussed two engaging strategies—semantic mapping, and morphemic and contextual analysis—that can help activate students’ passive vocabulary.

The one-hour seminar workshop was organized by ELC’s Staff Professional Development Team, as it was one of the topics identified by the faculty in the Training Needs Analysis, which was administered at the start of the academic year.

The event aimed at shedding light on the effective teaching practices and strategies that help the EFL learners in enlarging their reservoir of vocabulary, which they can readily use in writing and speaking tasks.
