Twenty Diploma Electrical Engineering students visited VOLTAMP, a transformer manufacturing company in Sohar Industrial Area, on March 25, 2019.

The students were accompanied by Engineering Department (ED) lecturer Mr. Basavaiah Kalyan Kumar.

The industrial visit aimed at exposing students on the assembling and testing procedures of transformer parts.

Health and Safety Engineering (HSE) Officer Mr. Fahad Mohammed Al Mamari guided the students throughout the visit.

Human Resources (HR) and Administration Manager Yousuf Said Al Shafei discussed VOLTAMP’s overall operation while Production Engineer Mr. Abdul Majeed Al Maqbali explained the high voltage transformer winding, assembling, and insertion of a core assembly inside a tank.

Testing Engineer Mr. Suresh Shastri shed light on transformer testing.

ED’s Industry Liaison Committee organized the said visit.
