The Industry Liaison Committee of the Engineering Department (ED) arranged an industrial visit at STOMO Power Plant for six Diploma Electrical and 11 Bachelor Mechanical Engineering students on October 15,2019.

STOMO Health & Safety officer Mr. Yousef Mohammed Al Washahi and Training Coordinator Mr. Hariharan Sachidanandam welcomed the students and gave a brief presentation about their company.

Training Electric Engineer Mr. Ali Sulaiman Al Shamsi demonstrated the various safety procedures that are strictly followed in industries and the maintenance processes in producing power and converting sea water into a potable one.

The students learned about the plant’s major equipment such as the gas turbine of 123 MW, hybrid burners for premix and diffusion mode operation with both natural gas and distillate fuel oil used for NOx control system.

Moreover, they observed the set- up of supplementary fired HRSG’s (boilers), condensing steam turbine, multistage flash evaporation vessel and brine heater facilities.

ED lecturer Mr.Niyaz Ahamed accompanied the students during the said visit.
