Advanced Diploma Civil students visit Shinas Municipality
A total of 31 Advanced Diploma students from the Civil Section of the Engineering Department (ED) visited several places within Shinas Municipality on January 30, 2018.
The objective of the visit is for students to gain knowledge about sewage treatment method and building construction. From this industrial visit, Civil Engineering students were exposed on the operation and maintenance of sewage treatment plant for waste water which is used to help save the environment from further damage cause by pollution.
Shinas Waste Water Treatment Plant secured the exclusive sewage treatment process of removing contaminants from wastewater, primarily from the household and nearby industries. It includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove contaminants and produce environmentally safer treated wastewater reusable for gardening purposes.
Mr. Hussein, an engineer from Shinas Municipality, oriented the students about safety measures in the plant. He also explained about the treatment process and the ongoing maintenance of the Plant for treatment process, water supply and drainage systems.
The students then visited on-site building construction in Shinas. They learned about reinforcement, plinth beam and column reinforcement in construction of building.
Dr. Mahmood Khazalah, Head of Section (HoS)- Civil Section, ED, in coordination with On-the-job Traning (OJT) Department, organized the said visit with the assistance of Dr. Baskar Gopalan and Mr. Karthick Babu, ED lecturers who accompanied the students.
