Student Support Services Committee of Business Department organized a workshop titled “Ways to reduce the risk of plagiarism” for the BSD students on Tuesday, 12^th October 2021, from 2 to 3pm. The guest speaker, Dr. Alamelu Mangai, a Lecturer at UTAS- Al-Mussanah was welcomed and introduced by Mr Narsaiah Lakkavatri, member of Student Support Services Committee. Dr. Alamelu Mangai introduced the concept of plagiarism and discussed how students could reduce the possibility of plagiarism when doing assignments in the university. Academic reliability and the need to acknowledge the contributions of others, to ensure fairness and transparency was the core message delivered in the interactive webinar. The speaker also discussed the penalty for the students if the percentage of plagiarism exceeded the percentage acceptable, according to the university regulations. Dr. Alamelu Mangai, demonstrated how to acknowledge articles and use the correct referencing format in assignments. At the end of the session, Ms. Nithya Sambamoorthy gave the vote of thanks to the guest speaker.
