Shinas College of Technology hosted the 1st Alumni Forum last Wednesday, February 01, 2012 at the VIP Lounge. The forum was attended by a remarkable number of graduates. This event was organized by the Quality Assurance Unit (QAU), under the auspices of the College Dean, Dr. Ali Saud Al Mughairi and in coordination with Counseling & Graduates Follow up Department and Educational Technology Center (ETC). This forum aims to provide career guidance and professional development opportunities for the students and the graduates, to strengthen the bonds of interdependence between the alumni, the community and the graduates and to help in the transfer of experiences gained from the reality of work for the students and the graduates. The forum was opened by a Holy Quran recital made by Yahya Abbas Al Balushi. The College Dean highlighted the objectives of the forum which are reflected in the vision-mission statements of college. He also stressed the significance of conducting the event and the roles of alumni in achieving the goals and aspirations of the college. In addition, the QA Administrative Officer, Ms. Fawziya Al Jabri, explained the services provided by the Forum for its members like the opportunities for career guidance and the use of the college facilities such as the library and various learning resources. She also mentioned the membership conditions and election processes. Before the adjournment, the participants elected Mr. Nasser Al Hindasi, an ELC lecturer, as the Chairperson and Mr. Abdullah Al Balushi, as the Coordinator of the Forum.
