SSSC Holds Workshop on HR Policies and Practices in Modern Organizations
The Students Support Service Committee of the Department of Business Studies (SSSC) organized a workshop on ‘HR Policies and Practices in Modern Organizations’ for the students on Oct 8, 2015. The guest speaker was Mr. Abdullah Al Roshdi, an HR Officer in Ferrovial Batco LLC. He was an alumnus of ShCT. The workshop started with a welcome note by the coordinator of the HR Club, Dr.R. Alamelumangai. This was followed by an introduction of the guest speaker by Ms. Maysaa Said Salim Al Mazrooi, a final year baccalaureate student.
The guest speaker, Mr. Al Roshdi emphasized the importance of the recruitment procedures, selection criteria and the appointment process pursued in modern organizations. He also covered areas such as, job classification, remuneration and employment benefits. Likewise, he included in his talk the general terms and conditions of employment, followed by the working environment. Additionally, performance evaluation systems, promotions, demotions and transfers were other areas covered. Finally, Mr. Al Roshdi focused on the future job prospects of the student community. Largely, the session focused on HR practices followed in Oman and in the international context.
There was active participation from students. The Q & A session was highly interactive. The students asked a variety of questions. The speaker responded to all their queries.
The guest was honored with a certificate and memento by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs - Ms. Aysha Mater Khudeem AL Jabri, and HOD- Department of Business Studies - Ms. Moza Mohammed AL Shihi.
Finally, Ms. Noora Mubarak Mohammed AL Qamshooie, a final year graduate student, proposed a vote of thanks.
SSSC members, Dr.R.Alamelumangai, Ms. Amel Radouch and Mr. V.K.Vivek coordinated the events of the workshop.
