BSD organizes SMS 2017

ShCT’s Business Studies Department (BSD) spearheaded SMS 2017 (ShCT Management Seminar) on May 17, 2017.

Dubbed “Economic Growth in Oman amidst Oil Crisis: A Diversified Strategic Approach,’’ the one-day seminar welcomed research scholars, academicians and industry professionals to share their experiences, and discuss new ideas, trends and challenges relevant to the theme.

The event featured concept/research paper presentations by eminent corporate executives, researchers, academicians and students; Panel discussions by dynamic policy makers, industrialists, corporate leaders, prospective entrepreneurs, and business journalists; and, project, poster & new business idea presentation contest among the students.

Ms. Khadija Ahmed Ali Al Isaei, Department of Business Studies Head, welcomed the guest and participants; whereas, ShCT Dean Dr. Khalid Zayed Al-Muharrami, inaugurated the seminar.

Dr. Mohammed Al Balushi, HR and Administration Manager of Al-Ghalbi Engineering  Oil and Gas Company,  was invited as chief guest.

Mr. Mohsin Sulaiman Al Jabri, Environmental Affairs Manager of Sohar Port Freezone graced the occassion.

Mr. Saleh Al-Shaibany, journalist and a lecturer at Modern College of Business and Science, Muscat served as  keynote speaker.

Thirty-two papers were presented by academicians from various colleges.

The Board of Judges included: Mr Ibrahim Al Abri, Finance Specialist, Sohar Aluminium; Mr. Musab Yousuf Al-Shezawi, Senior Manager, Fuel Cards, Oman Oil Marketing Co. SAOG; Mr. Rushit Sanghvi, Unit Head-SME & Corporate Relationship, Bank Muscat SAOG; and, Mr. Marcelo Antunes, HR Senior Business Partner,VALE Oman.

The papers will be published in the "International Journal of Business and Administration Research Review" (ISSN: 2348-0653, Online ISSN: 2347-856X, Impact Factor: 4.729).

For the panel discussion, panelists included: Mr.Haitham Al-Mammary, People Development Senior Manager, Oman Oil Marketing Co. SAOG; Mr.Saleh Al-Shaibany; Dr.Rakesh Belwal, Acting Dean and associate professor of Management Studies, Sohar University; Mr. Rushit Sanghvi; Ms Seeniya Biju, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Aster Hospitals and Clinics, Oman; and Mr. Faisal Al Balushi, Commercial Manager, Sohar Port Free Zone.

Sohar Port Freezone, Dalma Energy LLC, Aster Al Raffah Hospital  and Safeer Mall sponsored this event.

The seminar aimed to provide a venue for the experts and participants to explore the future prospects of the economy in the light of global economic changes, discuss strategic actions in the investment and business arena and know the future alternatives for the state’s sustainable public financing.
