ShCT educators present papers in Teaching, Learning Confab
Seven lecturers of Shinas College of Technology presented academic papers during the 3rd Annual Teaching and Learning Conference held at Sohar University, Sohar City, Oman on Sept. 14, 2017.
Business Studies Department’s (BSD) Head of Section for Marketing Dr. Joefrelin Ines and BSD lecturers Dr. Cirilo Mirano Jr. and Mr. Reynald Funtinilla shared the findings of their study titled “Pedagogical Issues and Challenges Confronting Business Studies Lecturers at Shinas College of Technology.”
Mr. Renjith Krishnan, also from BSD, presented a paper dubbed “Curriculum: Rethinking Learning, Redesigning Teaching.”
Engineering Department lecturer Dr. Baskar Gopalan delivered a paper titled “Quality Assurance Through Academic Program Evaluation by Educational Accreditation Process.”
Two lecturers from the English Language Center presented papers as well. Mr. Aldrin Apolonio tackled “Teach the Way the Brain Learns” while Dr. Joseph Dayag presented “Portfolio Assessment: Promoting Autonomy Among 21st Century Learners.”
Meanwhile, Quality Assurance Unit member Dr. Joaquin Gabayno Jr., ELC lecturer Dr. Kalyana Chakravarthi Thirunagari and Information Technology lecturer Ms. Myra Patalay attended the conference as participants.
Sponsored by Sohar University, the one-day academic conference featured a keynote address by Ms. Otherine Neisler, deputy director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning of Sultan Qaboos University, and more than 20 scholarly paper presentations that dwelt on varied topics related to the theme: “Curriculum: Re-Thinking Learning, Re-Designing Teaching.”
