IT Alumni, OJT, and Students join Windows Server Administration Workshop
As part of the IT Alumni Committee’s commitment to providing quality IT training to alumni and students, the committee organized a workshop titled “Windows Server Administration” on 13th to 16th June 2022. This 4-day practical-oriented workshop aimed to impart Server Management skills to its participants. A total of twenty-eight Omani students, alumni, and professionals attended the event.
The workshop was co-ordinated by Mr. Rajesh Rajamani Kala and Mr. Hariraman Ammaiappan, Lecturers in the Networking Section. The workshop included the implementation of the following server management tasks namely, an overview of configuring email accounts in Exchange Server, restricting email users from uploading bulk files via email, restricting email users from attaching virus files, importing and exporting PST files and backup of email files. The speakers also discussed about creating a protection from spam messages in user emails and how to forward emails in the absence of an Email user to another user. Furthermore, they talked about creating a website in IIS with Basic Authentication, how to configure VPN in Server and test VPN access from Windows 10 Clients, and creating and configuring network policy for VPN Remote Access. The participants learned how to configure NAT in the Server and NAT testing from Windows 10 Client. During the training, the participants used 3 virtual machines, and were provided with a complete lab handout along with video recordings for each activity for future reference.
The event culminated with the awarding of certificates to the participants and the speakers of the workshop. The Information Technology Section Head, Ms. Amna Al-Kaabi , and Ms. Salama Said Al-Kalbani, Head of the Networking Section and IT Alumni Committee member awarded the certificates.
