Free English Courses for Job Seekers in Shinas
The English Language Centre at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences Shinas is currently offering free English speaking classes to the local community. The courses have been organized particularly for job seekers, aged between 20 to 40, living in Shinas and nearby towns. The two week courses, which are being delivered on campus at UTAS Shinas, aim to provide basic and advanced level English speaking skills to develop confidence and proficiency to communicate in English. The courses have been divided into three levels, starting with the beginner course, followed by the intermediate level for job seekers and finally the English for advanced level speakers. The dean of UTAS Shinas, Dr Ahmed Al Shahri and Head of English Language Centre Mr Saif Al Weshahi awarded certificates to the first batch of community students, who successfully completed the course for beginners. English Lecturer, Ms Razwana Khawaja delivered the course and said that she was very happy with the high level of enthusiasm shown by the 23 students who attended. She commented that all students put in a lot of effort to overcome their personal barriers to learning and contributed well in class. The community initiative will commence with the second course beginning on 12th June 2022, which aims to provide intermediate speaking skills, focused mainly on developing English proficiency for job-search purposes. The advanced level public speaking course will begin on 26th June and will end on 7th July 2022.
